There are so many reasons to start a breathwork practice.

Breathwork benefits both your physical health and your emotional wellbeing. It is a way to connect, to set aside the stresses of daily life and figure out your next steps.

Breathwork can be practiced by everyone! If you have lungs, you can do breathwork!

There are all different types of practices that can be used for a variety of purposes. Let’s find what works for you!

Putting it in the simplest terms, breathwork is focused attention on your breath. It is Intentional and conscious control of the rate, rhythm and depth of the air going into and out of your lungs.

We all breathe every moment of every day, so we should be masters of our own breath right?

Not necessarily!

Most of us are completely unaware of HOW we actually breathe. We know that we do, because we are still alive, but we lack awareness of the tension present in our bodies, and we ignore how the stresses of daily life are ACTUALLY affecting us. We are rushing past or not allowing ourselves to feel certain emotions, and every time we do this, that energy gets stuck in our body, and shifts our breathing pattern ever so slightly. Over time and unconscious to us, we have stopped breathing fully.

(An example: When you are in conflict with someone and that person walks in the room, what happens inside of you? How do you physically react? Your body tenses in a certain way, your breathing hitches and stops being quite as full as it was just moments before. Pay attention to how this shows up for you in your own life. Awareness is the first step to creatin a shift.)

Breathwork is a tool to break these breathing habits, to open our lungs and our minds to expansion and discovery. For a more in-depth list of the benefits of breathwork, click here.
